About Hertzstück

Hertzstück™ is a brand of trinamiX GmbH, a spin-off and wholly owned subsidiary of BASF SE. trinamiX GmbH was founded in 2015 and is based in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Our team consists of experts from various competence areas such as chemistry, physics, material science and engineering.

During the development of 3D sensor systems, the trinamiX team was searching for a wafer-thin infrared sensor made of lead salt. But a product with these specifications was not yet available on the market. That’s when trinamiX started the development of infrared sensors with a new thin film encapsulation under the name of Hertzstück™.

After the product development started in 2015, first sample sales were delivered by 2016. Since then we are further expanding our portfolio and application fields, thus we can now offer a broad range of standard and custom-engineered products in the field of infrared (IR) detection.

Hertzstück™ NIR multi-pixel detector

During SPIE Photonics West 2019, trinamiX presentsthe Hertzstück™ infrared multi-pixel detector. The detectors consist of 2 to 16 pixels in line or matrix design. Hertzstück™ detectors cover the spectral range from 1 to 3 μm, which is highly relevant for applications in inline or mobile process analytics and quality control.

With Hertzstück™, we are determined to provide a new, empowering knowledge tool which enables all of us to better control the things we eat, the clothes we wear or the medicines we take. By using near-infrared spectroscopy and transforming the spectra into data that everyone can understand, Hertzstück™ makes the invisible visible and broadens our knowledge of the world around us.

We developed a prototype handheld device which uses Hertzstück™ technology to enable consumers to examine e.g. the ingredients of their food.

Infrared detectors Hertzstück™ with higher stability through double encapsulation

The infrared detectors Hertzstück™ are double encapsulated: The sensors are not only protected by a TO-package, but also by a novel thin-film encapsulation directly on the chip. This patent-pending technique ensures longer lifetime compared to conventional infrared sensors.
